Most all anti-viral programs are virus-specific in one way or another and need to be updated. If you are using a commercial program the easiest way to stay up to date is to subscribe to their update service.
For about $65 a year, most publishers will simply send you the latest version when a new virus comes on the scene. You send the money every year and whenever you get a disk in the mail you update your software. No fuss, no muss, no bother.
If you are using public domain or shareware program such as Disinfectant you will have to rely on other sources. User groups and electronic bulletin boards are the best source of updates for these programs.
